Guess Who I’ve Messed Up With?

PennyB

How long does it take you to read every thing written on a MySpace music page? Generally not a lot.
How long does it take you to read every thing written on a band website? It could be either five minutes or fifty.
How long does it take you to read every thing written on Penny Broadhurst’s website? A long long time.
Just take a look at the detailed navigation sidebar. One should give her a record deal for the amount of content of her website alone. The only thing that’s probably missing is an rss feed. You even get you know her height, feet size, birthday and favourite colours. Mrs Broadhurst likes computers, too. Mostly Macs (:D).

Penny has a full live band called the Maffickers. ‘To maffick’ means ‘to celebrate in a boisterous manner’. They are avaliable for records, gigs and picnics. And right now they’re probably listening and learning Penny’s demos so they can play them live. And guess what, us too can hear those very same demos as downloads – see the news page for info on how to grab them. The newest of these downloads is the Delian Mode Dub Demo Mix of The Ballad Of Grey Sand, which is rather dark, deep, haunting, but most of all quite excellent: the extra beats and noises take the original rough bedroom recording to terrifying, not to mention terrific new levels. Not so close to the ‘librarian pop’ tag that has appeared on some reviews (I hope it has nothing to do with the ‘girls wearing glasses’ stereotype).
I do sound pretentious when I try to fill sentences with adjectives, don’t I?

Here’s a widget thingy with a few Penny tunes. Guess Who I’ve Messed Up With also happens to be my favourite Penny / Maffickers song, and not only because of the title.

More info on MySpace, Facebook, Twitter and Last.fm.
